Dermaplaning may sound daunting, but the more you start learning about it, the more curious you become. For us, dermaplaning is such an incredible procedure that brings about amazing results, we can’t say enough about it.
In short, dermaplaning is essentially the shaving away of the most upper layer of skin on your face. You use small, upward strokes with a surgical scalpel to shave away and exfoliate dead skin and unwanted peach fuzz. It is a procedure that is great for all skin types which results in your skin having a glowing look because over time, the buildup of dead skin and small hairs can make your complexion appear dull and may even cause breakouts.
You will want to clean your face before we begin, and make sure it is entirely dry as this will maximize exfoliation. Unlike other treatments that we offer, there is no downtime after dermaplaning, because your skin is not subjected to intense pokes or procedures. Though some people may be a little red, this doesn’t last long. The biggest thing to be aware and diligent of after your treatment is the application of SPF creams.
There are some negative myths about dermaplaning which are simply not true: your hair will not and does not grow back thicker, darker, and this procedure will not cause breakouts. On the contrary, it clears your pores and unclogs about three weeks worth of dead skin accumulation. Applying your skin care products post-dermaplaning results in better absorption, too. Lastly, this isn’t a procedure that one should try at home because guiding a sharp scalpel on your skin requires skill and knowledge.
