Here Comes the Sun

We live in one of Canada’s sunniest cities, which is something to shine about for sure.

But, for all that sun it means we need to be more diligent with our skin’s exposure because though the fire ball in the sky gives us much, it also causes damage to our skin.

Within the outer layer of our (the epidermal) we carry the pigment melanin. Melanin is what protects us from the sun’s harmful ultraviolet rays and protects our skin. Without it, we always would burn but the more we burn, the more our skin loses elasticity and causes premature ageing. The reason we tan is because with more exposure, the more we produce melanin and our skin darkens.

So, though we all love that bronzed and tanned look, in the long run, too much of it can hurt us. After any of our treatments and procedures, be it dermaplaning, tattooing, facials and any other types of exfoliation, it is imperative to avoid the sun as much as possible for a few days. The skin’s upper most layer is very sensitive and in some cases, sloughed off, making it particularly vulnerable to sun damage. The skin takes some time to heal, so be sure to avoid the sun to avoid damage.

Be sure to ask us about some sun block products that we can recommend and be sure to use them daily. Even on the cloudiest of days, UV rays are getting through the clouds and working on you.

Your Confidence is my Business,

Shannon
