Alcohol and Your Skin

How does alcohol affect your skin??

Stampede is over, and if you partied hard these last 10 days, it’s definitely not your bank account that took a beating too. Your skin also took the brunt of your daily escapades.

Skin is the largest organ we have, so it’s inevitable that our actions and behavior will affect it. You may feel lethargic and heavy after heavy drinking and because alcohol causes an inflammation throughout our entire bodies, our skin will experience dullness, sagging, dehydration, discoloration and fine lines.

We often look red when we drink and that is due to the fact that our blood vessels and capillaries widen, allowing for more blood flow to reach the surface.

Alcohol also depletes your system of Vitamin A which is a natural antioxidant. We also know water is forced out of our bodies when we drink, making it hard to rehydrate properly too. Basically, alcohol is brutal on our skin!

To help your skin, drink lots of water. Not just the day after, but during your night out and also before. Vitamin C helps, so citrus fruits will be your skin’s best friend. After you’ve had some water and oranges, relax and treat yourself to a mask. There are a variety of skin care products we can help you get set up with to rejuvenate you after a night of drinking, or in this case, a streak of 10 days.

Your Confidence is my Business,

Shannon
